Our founders, coming from a long line of traditional Jaipur kaarigars, see the craft of jewellery making as co-creating with the needs, hopes and desires of the people involved in both - the making as well as the wearing. They saw first-hand how this idea can get lost in modern manufacturing. They were surprised by a lack of tactile energy in the modern jewellery pieces that often reached their working tables. While the pieces held beauty, the metal lacked a quality that would make them ask, "where is the finished product?"
It is this feeling that led to the origin of Wokes. They decided they wanted to bring people pieces that carried purpose, stories, and real human quality checks that highlight the art that is jewellery making.ย
